Business Start-up Essentials Workshop offered
The Idaho Innovation Center hosts a free Business Start-up Essentials Workshop on the fourth Monday of each month through the end of the year.
The workshop will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Idaho Innovation Center, 2300 N. Yellowstone Highway. Workshop trainers are Bryan Magleby, SBDC Business Consultant/Executive Director of the Idaho Innovation Center; Cheryl O’Brien, Associate Director, Idaho Women’s Business Center East; and Bill Woods, SCORE volunteer.
Attendees will meet with professionals from the fields of banking, accounting, law, insurance and human resources, according to an event flyer. Course participants will gain a better understanding of funding, business plans, start-up expectations and more.
The one-to-one two-hour course is designed to help entrepreneurs with tasks including:
• Selection of a company name
• Registration of businesses in Idaho
• Financing options and start-up expectations
• Creating a business plan to apply for a small business loan or developing a dynamic business roadmap
• Financial forecasts
Participants can also meet with local bankers, accountants, insurance agents and lawyers to learn how they can help.

Outdoor show planned for this month
Launched in 2017, the Teton Overland Show will be held later this month. The event caters to those interested in the outdoors, off-roading and camping, also known as overlanding, according to the event’s website.
“Overlanding is the pursuit of adventure through independent, vehicle-based travel,” the website states.
The three-day event with more than 150 exhibitor spaces will take place September 16-18 at The Waterfront at Snake River Landing, 2194 Snake River Parkway.
The event includes classes, product demonstrations, guided trail runs, classes, a ladies’ lounge, a children’s activity area and more.
The event will take place on September 16 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, September 17 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and September 18 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
General admission tickets for adults (15+) are $10 per day. Children under the age of 14 have free entry. Weekend passes are $25 per person. In-show camping packages are also available.
The Idaho Women’s Business Center is hosting a networking event
The Idaho Women’s Business Center is hosting a Peers @ the Pier networking event tonight from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the pier at Snake River Landing.
Women entrepreneurs can meet and learn more about membership in the Idaho Women’s Business Center at the free event. Eating and drinking is offered in a relaxed atmosphere.

QuickBooks planned for business classes
The Idaho Innovation Center will host a QuickBooks training session on September 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 2300 N. Yellowstone Highway.
Instructor Jared Blackham of Crestworth Accounting will train students on accounting concepts, setting up QuickBooks, vendor transactions (accounts payable, writing checks), customer transactions (invoicing, receivables, deposits), reading financial statements, and how to review and manage their business.

Digital Marketing Training
The Idaho Innovation Center will host a digital marketing workshop on October 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Attendees will learn about the development of marketing messaging, website building and management, as well as social media marketing and search engine optimization.

Workshop systemization of sales for success
Jared Oviatt, Business Partner at BBSI, will lead a “Systemizing Sales for Success” workshop on November 2, 9, 16 and 30 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the Small Business Development Center at the Idaho Innovation Center.
Attendees will learn how to target their ideal customers, motivate people to buy, close more sales, and increase revenue.

Greater Idaho Falls Transit business discussion
The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce will host a business discussion on transiting Idaho Falls on September 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the College of Eastern Idaho, Building 5, Room 529, 1600 S. 25th East.
The hour-long discussion with Chamber CEO Chip Schwarze and Idaho Falls Transit Coordinator Kade Marquez will focus on how the Greater Idaho Falls Transit can help local businesses.
